The Isle of Skye is famous the world over as one of the most romantic, mysterious and breathtakingly beautiful islands. And where better to stay on Skye than on the Sleat peninsula, the “Garden of Skye”. A beautiful landscape, somewhat gentler and lusher than most of Skye, and Armadale where seascapes are the norm.
If you prefer to dine out there are some excellent local restaurants and bars, all within walking distance or a short drive away. Or you can use the Centre’s own licensed restaurant during the day between 9:30am and 5:30pm from April to October and between 10am and 4pm from November to March.
Or simply just relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of Armadale and explore the local Sleat peninsula. Use the self-catering facilities to prepare yourself a tasty meal. A local shop is nearby at Ardvasar and there is a larger supermarket in Broadford - twenty minutes drive away.
Armadale Castle’s peaceful gardens, extending to 40 acres, are a joy to wander in at any time of the year. Guests can walk across the hills of the Clan Donald Lands Trust 20,00 acre estate where you will find stunning landscapes and seaviews, woodland walks and Highland paths. Fishing and stalking may be arranged. Armadale is also a convenient base from which to explore the mighty Cuillin mountains, historic castles and standing stones, the beauty of the Trotternish peninsula and the moonscape of the Quiraing hills, croft museums and craft shops, adding up to hundreds of years of history and heritage and the flourishing Gaelic culture of today’s islanders. From Armadale guests are also within easy reach of the mainland West Highlands of Scotland via the Armadale to Mallaig ferry close by, or the Skye Bridge, thirty minutes drive away.
