About Clan Donald Lands Trust
The Clan Donald Lands Trust is a Scottish charity established in 1971. Its mission is to promote an understanding and appreciation of the history and traditions of Clan Donald and the Lordship of the Isles. The Trust advances its mission by operating Clan Donald Skye, a 20,000-acre, working Highland estate. On the Estate, the Trust has the Home Farm, some 10,500 acres of crofting townships, and commercial and natural woodlands.
The Trust runs the Visitor Centre at Armadale, with one of its central features being the Museum of the Isles. The Museum and its Library collect, preserves and makes available information on Clan Donald, the other Clans of the Lordship, and the West Highlands and the Isles of Scotland.
The Trust also preserves the remains of Armadale Castle, and oversees the tending and development of the historic Castle gardens. By professionally managing and maintaining these resources, the Trust provides members of Clan Donald, the other Clans in the Hebrides and West Highlands, and the general public with the opportunity of learning about their individual and shared heritages in a beautiful setting overlooking the Sound of Sleat.
In advancing this mission, the Trust also provides significant economic benefits to the region. We hope that you will enjoy your visit to Clan Donald Skye.
