Clan Donald Skye & The Museum of the Isles

It’s Craft Fair time again!

One of the big events of the Skye calendar takes place at Armadale this weekend.With over 50 stalls displaying and selling a wide range of crafts and produce, there really is something for everyone at Clan Donald Skye’s Garden & Craft Fair.
Everything from photographs, paintings, jewellery, pottery and handmade cards to textiles, woodturning, candles and skincare will be on display in the marquees on the lawn at the rear of Armadale Castle.
For keen gardeners, there will be several opportunities to stock up the borders and hanging baskets with lovely plants. Several local growers will be selling everything from bedding plants, heathers and alpines to shrubs, perennials and vegetables.
In addition, the fair incorporates the popular monthly food fair so you’ll be able to choose from a wide range of jams, chutneys, artisan breads, cakes and other tasty treats – even freshly roasted and ground coffee from the Isle of Skye Coffee Company.
The Skye Terrier Society will be having a fun day on Saturday as part of the fair, with a fun dog show and other entertainment, all part of the Skye Terrier Homecoming about which more on these pages later!
The normal admission charges will apply over the weekend (remember it’s just £1 for locals – please bring proof of residence within Skye, Lochalsh and Mallaig) and that includes entry to the gardens, nature trails and Museum of the Isles. There’ll be a barbeque, licenced bar selling Pimms, wine and beer, light refreshments will be available and of course the Stables Restaurant will be open serving the usual wide range of tasty meals and snacks.
