A Night at the MuseumOn Saturday night a select audience spent an enthralling evening listening to the words and music of storyteller Bob Pegg as he told us about the People of the Sea. From an ancient Inuit fable as to how the world and sea were made to the story of an ingenious Orcadian foghorn (a shell), we discovered the denizens of the deep. All this was accompanied by a variety of instruments. The museum echoed to the sounds of scallop shells, wooden flutes and a Viking-style harp - reminding us what a good performance space the first gallery makes. The evening was part of the Festival of Museums held throughout Scotland over the weekend 18-20 May. |
